Dreaming Dodger Blue

I was recently invited on a roadtrip.
I don't normally turn down roadtrips.
Especially when it involves good friends, many miles, strange coincidences, the opportunity of a lifetime, southern California, and Dodger baseball. So I accepted.
Brad rented the car.
Christian picked the eats.
And I slept.
We took in the first game from the left field side. Christian and I enjoyed the Dodgers' victory over Brad's Red Sox and we even stayed for the fireworks show.
After the game they were also letting fans onto the field. We rushed down to the field level to get our chance to be on the grass where champions have played. But they only let so many fans onto the field before they shut it back down. And according to this girl, who worked field supervision, we didn't make the cut.
After waiting 20 or 30 minutes and trying three other security guards we finally found the one guy that would let us onto the field. So yes, I have run the outfield grounds of Dodger Stadium. The fields that hosted World Series games of the 60s, 70s, 80s and this year (fingers crossed).
I was then escorted off the field by security. A dream come true.
The next day wasn't as important. Heck we even let the Red Sox win.
But I did find my new favorite shirt.

The Commute

Today's 40 minute commute to work took nearly two hours. If this keeps up maybe I'll start having Reggie drive me so we can at least take the carpool lane. He's slow, but safe. He even let's me pick the music.

Insert Title Here

September is always an interesting month. It has twice the days of Summer that June has and yet it still gets credit as a major Fall month. It's Tommy Lasorda's birthday on the 22nd and even has Labor Day. It's the start of one of the three years (school - the other two being the calendar and the fiscal). It's the end of baseball regular season and the start of the NFL. I should like September a lot more than I do. But I just don't. I'm working on it. And here's how.

I'm digging up old photos of the boys at Disco Skating.
Boogie Fever may be the cure to September.
I am the only guy that brings his kids to football draft night as good luck charms.
I spend time with my little second grader.
Its only a few more years until she passes my education limits.
I go for walks with The Dude.
We hash out all family arguments the way we always do.
Hard core fighting.
Go for drives.
Eat Sushi.
Bike Provo Canyon.
Long board.
And then, there's always time for a game of catch.
We just play until Reggie catches one.
